Unable to relocate? No problem. Our program is designed to accommodate students from all over. You can complete your Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree over two years while maintaining your commitments in your home community.
Residencies
Each semester begins with an intensive residency where you’ll engage in lectures, panel discussions, workshops, and master classes led by renowned industry leaders and faculty members. The fall intensives are held in person on the MIU campus in Fairfield, Iowa, for US students, and online for international students. Two additional residencies take place entirely online during the spring semesters for both domestic and foreign students. These residencies provide you with opportunities to meditate, explore your creative process, and gain insights into the art of storytelling.

Our program brings in top industry professionals to instruct and inspire our students. In the past, we’ve had the privilege of hosting Oscar-winners like Peter Farrelly, Matthew Weiner, and talented individuals such as Dara Marks, Susan Seidelman, Michael Rauch, E.
